Designer, artist, interior designer, art director, curator.
She studied in Poland and Italy. She cooperated with Alessandro Mendini and Atelier Mendini in Milan for 10 years. Since 2005 the seat of her studio is Milan. Her portfolio includes, i.a., interior designs of hotels, public and private interiors and shop concepts for leading international design companies. Her work includes designing furniture, lighting, finishing materials, objects from glass and other materials for well known brands, both international and Polish.
Dorota Koziara approaches the topic of design very comprehensively. As a designer she also deals with design promotion, company development strategies through design and design criticism. She has been a curator and organizer of exhibitions promoting design on an international scale for many years, the most important being Real Industry Future Classics Comforty; Temporary Museum For New Design - Superstudio Pio, the Milan Furniture Fair; Salone del Mobile 2011, Polish Design - Design from Wielkopolska; Salone del Mobile 2012, Polish Design; Salone del Mobile 2013, Downtown Design; Dubai 2013, Mendini at National Museum in Poznań 2004 and Mendini; Wroclaw – the European Capital of Culture in 2014. Her works have been presented at numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including Milan, London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Zurich.
Dorota is among the winners of the international Third Millennium sculpture contest in Italy for her installation 12 Angels in Tuscany, Italy. In 1998 she developed a part of the dramaturgy and scenography for The 70 Angels on the Façade performance directed by Robert Wison for Piccolo Teatro in Mediolan (world’s first theatrical performance on the subject of the history of architecture and design for the 70th anniversary of Domus – the world’s oldest design magazine). Her work includes architecture design, public and private interior design, exhibition and installation design, theatre scenography, object and furniture design, and sculpture. She works as a consultant and art director in numerous companies. In 2011 Dorota Koziara designed the world’s premiere of Comforty collection in Temporary Museum For New Design at Superstudio Piu. In 2014, during Salone Internationale del Mobile, together with Comforty, Dorota Koziara art directed the first presentation of Comforty at the main Milan Fair Grounds, RHO with the exhibition You. Me. Design.
