Comforty for NOMUS

NOMUS – the New Art Museum in Gdańsk is the youngest National Museum branch in Poland. It was established on the former premises of the historic Gdańsk Shipyard – in a 19th century building, now thoroughly revitalised, which used to house a school for workers.

Aside from modern exhibition spaces, a major feature of the design is the multifunctional lobby, accessible to all guests. It was created upon the initiative of the mesmetric showroom, which invited Comforty to collaborate on this project. This is why, working pro bono with mesmetric, we designed a modular arrangement that will allow for using this attractive space to its fullest potential, with the latest Hillrock sofa collection by Maja Ganszyniec as its protagonist.

Its memorable, friendly silhouette became a characteristic feature of the NOMUS lobby arrangement. With the used azure, navy blue and grey palette, Hillrock’s colours bring to mind the Baltic coast landscape. Installed at NOMUS, Comforty furniture designed by Maja Ganszyniec is a harmonious composition of functional configurations of solids. The space can be comfortably re-arranged depending on the needs (concerts, discussions, events). The furniture perfectly harmonises with the existing architecture of the Gdańsk Shipyard. Importantly, Hillrock armchairs and tables are upholstered with 98% recycled fabric (post-consumer polyester). According to its many-year strategy, Comforty supports cultural institutions that present contemporary art, high artistic level and promote modern-day reflection demonstrating the most sophisticated standards of debate and artistic expression.
