Krystian Kowalski was born in Warsaw (1982) in a family of artists. He graduated from the Design Products department at the Royal College of Art in London (MA 2010) and the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (BA 2006). He gained experience working in design studios in Warsaw, Lodz and in Bellini Studio, Milan, where he learned and practiced the design methodology focused on prototyping. In 2009 - 2013 he was a co-founder and partner at Kompott Studio, nominated for the FX International Interior Design Award 2010 in the category of Breakthrough Talent of the Year.
In 2013 he established his own design practice in Warsaw. Krystian Kowalski Industrial Design works with leading international furniture and product brands. In his work he searches for intelligent solutions to create and develop refined products that go beyond the obvious. His creative process is based on observations of human behavior and in-depth analysis of trends and technology to select optimal solutions within a brand portfolio and tailored to each individual manufacturing process. Krystian's studio employs a multi-disciplinary approach. His design process involves advanced computer technology combined with manual skills and working directly with materials. Working in his studio's workshops, he develops bold ideas and concepts into fully functioning prototypes and models. The works took part in exhibitions at, among others, the Mint Gallery in London MOCAK in Krakow, and the Milan Triennale, and were published internationally.
