"The typology of this circular design can be traced back to ancient Rome and its architecture. The first round structure of the so-called circus in Rome was the Circus Maximus, situated in the valley between the Palatine and Aventine hills. It was raised during the ancient Regal era, initially entirely from wood. The architecture of circuses evolved with time, and in the Republican era such buildings became landmarks of Roman cities and classic public facilities, whose perennial architectural form became firmly inscribed in European cultural heritage.   "

Genesis and inspirations

Roman circuses are addressed in the design of the Circus tables. These ancient structures served the needs of entertainment and leisure time, while functioning as prominent features of the cityscape with a clearly defined and significant social role. Work with the scale and proportions gave the Circus table design the characteristics of classic architecture. The rhythmical distribution of vertical elements and the light and shadow play between them lends this openwork form dynamism, despite the difference in scale. Underscored with a powerful gesture, the classic circular shape of the tabletop and the rim, as well as noble oak or walnut wood establish Circus as a timeless and distinctive design for the comfort of the home leisure area.

Sophisticated details, the beauty of natural materials, and an extra function: removable tabletop that can double as a tray and extend the available space, make Circus perfect for any type of interior, as a coffee table gracing the living room arrangement. The higher and narrower table is also ideal for the bedroom as a nightstand. What’s more, the Circus collection enjoys popularity in office interiors, to which it contributes with its original vertical openwork feature and warmth of natural materials.

Circus tables are available in three sizes, in the range of colours from Comforty’s veneer collection, veneer in the colours from the RAL palette, and in MDF in the RAL palette colours with quartz particles.
