"Modularity, functionality, advanced and well-considered typology of elements that offer unlimited possibilities of creating varied sets for public and office spaces – these are the main assets of the Altair sofa system. Its original silhouette is unforgettable. The soft curves of the seat and backrest cushions create a friendly and welcoming relaxation space. Along with consistently planned upholstery details, their rhythm lends the design a distinctive and unique character. The lightweight silhouette that hovers above the ground is emphasised by slender and distinctively shaped legs.    "

Genesis and inspirations

Despite the aesthetic reference to the 1960s, Altair is characterised by a very contemporary and structural way of thinking about design and structure. The idea based on repetitive shapes and design details allows for creating standard components used in building the furniture and fully taps into the potential of the used materials. Technological solutions designed in this way enable customisation of the elements from the Altair collection by choosing the colour of the upholstered parts (the external and internal part of the backrest, the seat) and the visible steel elements, which may adopt a more or less distinctive character.

Aside from the several sizes of the sofa, armchair, footstool and bench modules, sofa and armchair modules open on one or both sides are also available, which allow for building corner arrangements. In 2021, we introduced more modules with which to create original, but above all functional zones in office, reception, lounge and customer service areas. The system is also complete with three variants of tables, which coherently connect any seats in a straight line, on the corner, or close off a selected seat instead of the armrest. Optionally, each module can be equipped with double USB mini ports integrated in the armrests. Each such port can charge and serve as many as two mobile devices. Owing to its elaborate functions, Altair is ideal for contemporary public spaces, reception areas, offices as well as hotel lobby and club spaces.

The powder-coated steel parts are available in all colours from the RAL palette and Comforty’s Sahara sand structure finishing collection. Combination of different fabrics is optionally available for the upholstered parts: the seat and the internal and external parts of the backrest. Powder-coated steel tables can be optionally ordered with veneered tabletops in the colours from Comforty’s veneer collection as well as with marble and Polaris laminate tabletops.

Altair was designed by the distinguished Towarzystwo Projektowe, a studio with an enormous portfolio. Its members and professors at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Grzegorz Niwiński and Jerzy Porębski, have designed numerous urban furniture models, bus and tram stops, shelters and pavilions. Their portfolio also features interiors of diplomatic outposts. They designed the iconic information system with names of Warsaw’s streets and districts, which was also implemented in other Polish cities (Wrocław, Łódź). Their designs also include a brand new, original information system for Krakow, the renovation concept of Warsaw’s Central Railway Station and the city’s Royal Route. Altair is a beautiful addition to this impressive oeuvre.
