Genesis and inspirations
Available for sale since 2008, the Badu sofa has been significantly improved. The number of available module variants has also increased. Badu has been changing along with the development of our knowledge of clients’ needs, along with the evolving functions and dimensions of leisure spaces, our clients’ way of life as well as challenges posed by individual markets and types of space. However, one feature has remained unchanged: its harmonious aesthetics. Owing to well-balanced proportions and the choice between various sizes, this unimposing design adjusts to almost every interior.
Badu is a modular sofa that offers unique configuration possibilities and allows for adjusting its dimensions to almost every interior. Its customisation potential is much greater. We can choose between two backrest heights and two depths of the seat. The ultimate form of the product depends on user’s invention and needs. As many as three armrest widths are available to choose from. Modules can be free-standing or fit for connecting in sequences. This item of furniture can be permanently fastened together or function as a set of individual elements to be connected when needed.
Through this design I wanted to create a symbol of comfort. Badu is not meant to make a powerful impression, but rather to offer a sense of freedom, familiarity, privacy. The goal I’ve managed to fully achieve is multifunctionality. You can either sit or lie on Badu, adopting any posture you wish, and use it to create a whole interior design by combining individual modules – Tomasz Augustyniak.
Aside from functionality resulting from the freedom to combine elements, Badu’s main design premise was unique comfort, successfully achieved through the use of several layers of foam in the seat and the backrest. The perfect final effect is determined by the used materials: natural soft down combined with a layer of state-of-the-art Visco-elastic foam that adjusts to the shape of the body (memory foam). Fully synthetic filling is also available as an option, which allows for enjoying the sofa’s outstanding qualities without animal derived materials. The synthetic version also offers greater control over the appearance of the seat – it does not require regular reshaping, which down requires for the correct functioning of comfort zones. This matters in the case of public and office spaces or when we have little time on our hands and simply prefer to freely lounge on the sofa.
Badu has loose backrest cushions, and modules can be fastened together or left free-standing, but this needs to be decided upon placing an order.
The sofa is equipped with plastic runners. Fillings can be made flame retardant upon request. Aside from seat modules in a wide variety of sizes, corner modules and an entire range of pouffes are available that serve as free-standing seats, added to perform a chaise longue function by extending the seat or sofa.
